Plumbing Appreciation 

This course gives individuals an introduction to plumbingand covers the following topics:

  • Introduction to Domestic Cold Water Systems
  • Introduction to Domestic Hot Water Systems
  • Introduction to Appliance Installation (Installation Practices I)
  • Outline storage and non-storage of hot and cold water supply pipework
  • Selection of pipework and materials, fittings and control valves for given situations
  • Outline the installation of water storage cisterns
  • Outline means of preventing frost damage to water installations
  • Outline factors which affect gravity circulation
  • Undertake basic jointing techniques and applications required, using appropriate tools and equipment to join various types of pipes and fittings used in domestic water supplies

The course consists of 80% practical work, 20% theory.

Day: Tuesday and Thursday
Time: 5.30pm – 8.00pm
