North Glasgow College - Preparation Courses for VETASSESS AssessmentNorth Glasgow College is a validated VETASSESS assessment centre for individuals who want to emigrate to Australia. In April 2009 NGC signed a Memorandum of Understanding for an exclusive partnership agreement with Victoria University and Education and Training International to deliver Pre-Assessment and GAP Training course in the UK, Ireland and across Europe.The Offshore Skills Assessment Service for General Skilled Migration has now been in place for over 18 months and there is evidence that candidates undertaking the practical assessment would benefit from pre-assessment training to ensure that they are adequately prepared for assessments and therefore, improving overall success rates.In order to help prepare candidates for the assessments NGC, VU and ETI are offering Pre Assessment and GAP training courses at NGC for the disciplines of Carpentry, Joinery, Bricklaying, Plumbing and Electrical trades. Preparation of the materials for Pre-Assessment training was conducted in collaboration with VU, ETI and NGC staff during April in Glasgow. The courses will be available from May 2009 to coincide with the largest VETASSESS Skills assessment event that takes place in July and August 2009 for the five trades. We are sure that the success rates of candidates applying for assessment to emigrate will improve once the candidates complete the Pre-Assessment Training. Our relationship with Education and Training International and Victoria University will grow, which in turn will increase the number of individuals who take the Offshore Skills Assessment at NGC.
