Step 1 – Get up to date guidance
Fee paying international students wishing to come to study in Scotland should visit the UK Border Agency (UKBA) website www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/studyingintheuk and www.ukvisas.gov.uk in the first instance to get up to date information.
Step 2 – Apply for your course of study
Once you have decided which course you would like to study, you can apply for your course at North Glasgow College either by:
a) Using our online application form at www.northglasgowcollege.ac.uk or,
b) Download and complete a copy of our application form and then return it via email to international@north-gla.ac.uk – this form can be located in Application Form and Course Download section or on the ESOL English Language Section.
In order to process your application form, we also require the following documentation:
• Certified copies of your educational certificates which should be translated into English.
• Evidence of your current English Language qualifications such as IELTS /Pearson PTE / TOEFL etc.
• A copy of your passport information page and visa, if applicable.
• Colour passport sized photograph.
• Your application form will be acknowledged by email.
Step 3 – Your Offer
Your application will then be processed and sent to the Faculty for consideration and once a reply has been received usually within 4 weeks, we will email you to advise whether your application has been successful or not.
If your application has been successful, you will be sent a conditional offer for a place on your chosen course together with college bank details to pay your deposit.
Step 4 – Applying for your visa
Tier 4 Points Based System / Student Visitor Visa
Once we have received your course deposit and you have satisfied the conditions of your conditional offer ie pay course deposit etc, we will send you an unconditional offer letter which you will use to apply for your visa.
If you are applying for a visa through the UKBA Tier 4 Points Based System, you will also be issued with a Confirmation of Acceptance of Studies (CAS) Statement which contains an unique CAS number which you are required to enter in your visa application form.

Step 5 – Getting your visa
You must tell us immediately when you have been granted a visa.
You are also required to inform the college of your arrival date in Glasgow and we can arrange to meet you at the airport and take you to your accommodation, if required.
Should you fail to obtain a student visa, your payment will only be returned to you upon production of your visa refusal notification and your original offer letters. The college will retain £150 for administration costs.
Please note no refund of course fees will be given:
• if your visa refusal states that you have used forged documentation or fraudulent information to obtain your student visa.
• if you fail to commence your course on the date stated on your unconditional letter of offer.
• If you decide to switch educational institutions less than 60 days prior to course commencement.
Step 6 – Getting started
Students can also come along to our ESOL Summer School from July – August 2012 in order make new friends, brush up on your English language skills, and discover the City of Glasgow and surrounding areas via our cultural trips and educational activities.
On your arrival at North Glasgow College, you will receive an induction and tour of the college.
