Introduction:

Most courses at an Introduction level require no entry qualifications.  These courses are ideal for individuals who have not gained the qualifications that are required for a higher level entry.  Successful completion of an Intro levelled course will allow the student to progress on to either an NQ or HN programme.

If you are interested in an Introduction to Childcare the minimum entry requirements are 3 standard grades at general or equivalent, including English.

National Qualification (NQ):

Most NQ courses require candidates to have gained relevant qualifications to gain access to their chosen NQ.  For example to gain access to an NQ Electrical Maintenance and Control you must have gained bands 2 – 4 in Standard grades but for an NQ Engineering Practice/Factory Maintenance requires 3 standard grades at level 3 or above.

Higher National Certificate/Diploma (HNC/D):

An HNC course requires that students have gained either an appropriate group of credit passes – depending on the subject chosen - or an NQ suitable for entry into their chosen course.
