Access is all about going forward, forward to college, forward to university. That could also mean going forward to an exciting new career. Access takes you places! Whether you are considering a career change, have been made redundant, or would just like to catch up where you left off at school, then Access could be made for you. You do not need any formal qualifications.

SVQs in Humanities, Science and Care

Area of Study:

  • Childcare Learning & Development

Scottish Vocational Qualifications (SVQs) tell you exactly what you have to do in a job to do it well. They are based on National Standards which are drawn up by people from industry, commerce and education.

This means that if you have an SVQ you have a way of proving that you can do your job well, to national standards agreed by whatever industry or commercial sector you are in.

SVQs send powerful messages to employers:

  • you can do your job confidently and well
  • you are motivated, confident and ambitious
  • you are ready to take on responsibility
  • you are committed to your work

SVQs are specifically designed for employed learners and are usually studied on a day release or block release basis.
