Recent Lithuanian Visit
The college has many links to foreign colleges and other partners. Through innovative use of European funding, staff and students from a range of nations and institutions have been able to experience the culture and working life here in Glasgow and our staff and students have made visits to other nations.
A recent example of this was the dual visits to North Glasgow College by 2 groups of students and staff from a range of colleges in Lithuania. The staff – who visited for 1 week – were able to meet with staff from Scottish colleges and find out how they work and manage. They also made time to see some of the sights of Glasgow and central Scotland. The experience is meant to give them a few ideas to take home and share with staff in Lithuania, as well as contributing to ideas which can be taken forward and developed at North Glasgow College.
The student group stayed for 2 weeks and were able to build on the classroom experience with a range of visits to industrial sites, exhibitions and employers. They made the most of their time by visiting the Scottish Parliament and other cultural sites. While they were here they took part in motor vehicle classes, English lessons and football coaching with a game up at Petershill. The game experience with the college’s Football Studies students was enjoyed by both sides an
d was a great opportunity for both visiting and home students to mix and participate.
It is to be hoped that both staff and students go away from North Glasgow College with real benefits from their time here, both culturally and vocationally.
